The Lawyer Lab:
Create The Life You Want

Have You Had Enough of Just Tolerating Your Everyday Life Because You Know You Are Capable of More?

Are you ready to stop people pleasing, over extending yourself and using activities like eating, drinking and scrolling to avoid uncomfortable feelings?

For a lot of women lawyers the idea of living their best life is a fantasy. The hopes, goals, and dreams they once had become distant memories. They settle for far less than the life they wanted despite their hard work and all the effort they put in to get to where they are now. Several years ago I realized I was one of these women.

Sure, I had a very important,  “good job” with a “secure future” but I was exhausted from doing so much for so little for so long.  I was burnt out and started to  hate my job everyday. It seemed that there were always “political circumstances” with my job which meant I was never positioned to make my full contribution, but I kept trying to get those in charge to see my worth. I was given more and more work and because I had no boundaries and wanted that validation, I took it all on.  I continued to try to demonstrate my value while resenting it at the same time.

I had learned to be uncomfortable in a courtroom and pushed myself to do more with less, but I didn’t even know why I was doing it anymore. I had lost faith and much respect for the officials I was working for, and even worse for myself. My personal life was suffering as my children were now growing up and had their own college lives and my husband and I were not fully engaged in doing things we loved as a couple mostly because I was too exhausted to do anything but keep the work cycle and people pleasing going. When I was home at night I could not say no to that bowl of ice cream or staying up later than I knew was good for me, just because I was desperately trying to escape the discomfort of my  everyday life.

Taking Control andTaking Intentional Action

When I confided in an attorney friend who worked at a big law firm in New York City she told me about the amazing experience she was having specifically because of coaching.   I didn’t even know what coaching was exactly.  I just knew it was time for a massive change.  Once I hired a coach, I could not believe the difference it made in my life. Slowly, but with constraint and purpose I made all kinds of changes in my life including making a difficult transition to a different position within my county.   Now I worked for different leaders who valued my input, where I made more money and had renewed purpose. Even though this new position was very challenging  and  uncomfortable, I stretched myself, had big wins and made a difference.. Even while all this was going on I changed my relationship with food and exercise .  I gained discipline where I had previously relied on willpower that was always fleeting. I took responsibility for all of my relationships with family members.  I dropped the “manuals” I previously had about how they should all behave.  Because the coaching experience was so valuable to me,  I became a certified life coach at The Life Coach School and have had the privilege  of working with some of the most gifted and amazing coaches.  I gained as much practical experience as possible while I continued to hold my position at work. Today I am an active alumni of The Life Coach School and frequently participate in further causal coaching education.

While coaching other attorneys I learned that the issues that I dealt with are common with so many women attorneys. After a long day of prioritizing their clients, or their legal work, women attorneys are often so decision fatigued they can’t keep the promises they made to themselves about food, about spending, about scrolling social media.   Anything they had decided to do for their health and well being seems to give way because of their need to “decompress”.  What is worse, because so many of us are “over achievers” we don’t let it go. We then beat ourselves up about having no self control and we make the cycle even worse.

I created the Lawyer Lab Program specifically so that my clients could finally take off the judge’s robes they like to wear when they  judge their own behaviors,  and instead put on a lab coat!  My coaching program is all about the “scientific method “for figuring out what works and what will loosen those limiting thoughts and habits until success becomes inevitable. It works and it’s fun. Imagine having a partner who is also an attorney, who understands what you do and is dedicated to supporting your success to create the exact life you choose.  We use constraint to start with the most pressing issues first and by the end of six months your life will be full of wins and new possibilities.because you will have all the. tools to be in control, no matter what.  I want it for you now as much as I wanted it in my own life then!

This is Not the Only Version of Your Life

Imagine knowing, with certainty, what you want to make of your life. Imagine how it would feel to wake up each day with that clarity and the tools to execute. How would you carry yourself? How would you treat those around you? How would you view the world?

Now imagine that you not only knew what you wanted, but that you were experiencing yourself making it happen. You will learn how, even on days you are not particularly motivated, to make progress toward your goals. This is a skill you will practice and learn in the Lawyer Lab. No matter what stands in your way. Imagine having that ability for the rest of your life. With a coach, a plan, and the right tools, it’s all possible.

Are You Ready to Take the First Step?

Having goals can require us to stretch ourselves in ways that are extremely uncomfortable. You know this: You went to college, law school passed a bar exam or two and clearly achieved some level of success doing hard things. Somewhere along the way you stopped listening to the part of you that wanted something extraordinary or maybe you stopped believing it was possible for you. Perhaps you excelled in some areas of life but feel like it is too late for all the others. Our human brains are designed to protect us against the very things that we know deep down we want for ourselves.

You can choose to do something different, to stop trying to figure this out all by yourself and instead follow the lead of someone who has a proven system to end overwhelm and guilt and help you be the best version of yourself.
